About This Experience

Pickup is at 6am, in a 4x4 or SUV — the operator makes a point of not using buses, and the group stays small enough to change the plan when it needs to.

The road crosses the Roman causeway to the mainland, then breaks for Toujane, a Berber village strung along a mountain pass and known for its honey and weaving. Matmata follows: the Sidi Idriss troglodyte hotel that played the Lars homestead in A New Hope, and a visit to a Berber family still living underground, over rosemary tea, homemade bread, honey and olive oil.

The afternoon is the desert — Ksar Ghilane, the hot spring, lunch, and free time on the dunes before the drive back.

• Please be ready for pickup. Pickup is at 6:00 AM; please be ready on time at the designated pickup location.
• This tour is conducted in small groups using 4x4 or SUV vehicles—no buses involved
• Optional activities such as camel rides or quad biking are available on site and charged separately
• A tip is kindly requested during the visit to the Berber family to support their livelihood
• Please bring appropriate desert clothing: hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and closed shoes
• The route includes some unpaved roads and desert terrain
• The itinerary may change due to weather conditions or local circumstances. If so an alternative date or a full refund will be guaranteed
