Djerba: Sahara 2 Day 4x4 Tour & 1-Night Desert Camp Night

About This Experience
Day one leaves Djerba over the Roman causeway, stops at the Chahbania salt lake, and reaches the market at Tataouine in time to walk it. Chenini — the Berber village built in tiers up a ridge, with its white mosque above the houses — gets a guided visit and a Berber lunch.
The afternoon crosses the rocky desert to Ksar Ghilane for the hot spring, with camel and quad rides available on the spot. The day finishes at a desert camp: sunset, sand bread, dinner, and a sky with no light pollution in it.
Day two is Matmata — the cave houses and the Star Wars hotel — and the mountain village of Toujane before the road back to the island.

There was absolutely nothing to complain about. Everything was fantastically organized, and it couldn't have been done better!

The driver picked us up from the hotel, and then we joined 2 wonderful people with whom we experienced this adventure together until the end. We stopped very often along the way, discovering new places one after the other, and we had the opportunity to use the restroom or buy snacks every now and then. The organizer made sure we had water. Each stop was very interesting. The camp located in the oasis was incredibly well-organized. There was a small restaurant, plenty of toilets, hot showers, electricity in the tents (most of the time), and it was warm. We had a lot of activities. We had a local dinner, the opportunity to see the sunset on quads (available for purchase), and at night we could admire the stars in the desert. The next day, after breakfast, we set off on the return journey, during which we also had a few unusual stops. We recommend this tour. The guide is great, and the small group is a plus.

Great experience! We're leaving with stars in our eyes! We were lucky to have Mohamed as our live guide, who is passionate! And Rafik as the driver! Excellent. I totally recommend it! Don't hesitate! The scenery is breathtaking, and a little bonus: the starry sky in the desert is incredible.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is this tour cheaper than the other two-day options?
It starts from Djerba rather than the northern resorts, so there is far less driving to pay for, and the camp is a shared Bedouin-style one. At $48 it is the lowest-priced overnight desert tour on this site.
What is the desert camp like?
A permanent tented camp on the sand with dinner, breakfast and an evening around the fire included. Bedding is provided; bring warm clothes between November and March.
Does it visit Star Wars filming locations?
Yes — Matmata on day two, including the Sidi Driss hotel used as the Lars homestead interior.
Is this a coach tour?
No. It runs in 4x4 vehicles, which is what makes the Ksar Ghilane approach and the camp access possible.
